Since 1984, the AMO Prize has celebrated what makes the act of building truly singular: the relationship between the one who commissions and the one who designs. Not a prize for architects alone, not a prize for clients alone — the AMO Prize rewards the duo, the shared ambition, the mutual trust that makes remarkable architecture possible.

Supported by the French Ministry of Culture, MAF Assurance and the Caisse des Dépôts, it brings together each year the most committed players in French and European urban development: developers, housing associations, local authorities, investors, companies — alongside their architects.

AMO is an association that unites architects and clients from both the private and public sectors — with one shared goal: architectural quality as a lever for ecological, social and territorial transition.

🌀 The Most Beautiful Metamorphosis Conversion, rehabilitation, extension: giving existing buildings an intelligent second life.

🛠️ The Most Audacious Construction Biobased materials, material reuse, experimental techniques: daring to take risks and push the boundaries of what is buildable in the service of sustainability.

🧩 The Most Creative Typology Third places, reversible spaces, hybrid programmes: inventing the spaces of today — and those we have yet to imagine.

🏭 The Most Productive Place Offices, workshops, retail: reconciling economic activity, human well-being and environmental performance.

🌍 The Best Urban or Rural Catalyst Architecture as a lever for transforming a neighbourhood, a territory, an ecosystem.

🇪🇺 TransEuropArchi — the international category Building Europe through the project.

This prize distinguishes an exemplary transnational collaboration between French and European design and client teams. It rewards shared knowledge, cultural diversity in the service of a common project — and the values that unite us: sustainability, innovation, social responsibility.

Why apply?

The AMO Prize offers your project national and European visibility — and recognition by an independent jury of international standing.

In 2025, nearly 150 applications were submitted. The jury was chaired by Philippe Madec. Among the laureates: Studio Mumbai by Bijoy Jain — one of the most influential voices in contemporary world architecture.
